The problem with doing that is you lose some of the memory protection capabilities. So, if your module uses some incorrect pointers, it could scribble over something else instead of getting a fault due to an unmapped page

http://lwn.net/Articles/13216/ If the kernel space is pinned all modules in that space will be pinned as well, reducing tlb misses.
