Mailing Lists
For some of our software projects we provide public mailing lists for development
purposes. This page contains some information about our list server and our
general policies regarding public mailing lists. Please see the pages of the
individual projects about procedures and policies specific to them.
Note that the U-Boot mailing list is currently hosted at sourceforge.net for historic
reasons. It is planned to move it to our own list server in the near future though.
List Server
We run a
Mailman list server at
http://lists.denx.de/. Via
the web interface you can handle your subscription and browse the archives.
All lists are reachable at the address <list>@lists.denx.de. In case of problems
please contact mailman@lists.denx.de or the owner of the list in question at
<list>-owner@lists.denx.de.
Content policies
We filter mail sent to our lists according to the following rules:
- HTML parts are stripped from the mail. Please use plain text.
- No
base64 encoded text parts are allowed. Mails containing them will be rejected.
If you send text, please use a less obstructed encoding (like 7bit, 8bit, or, if
you must, quoted-printable). Note that this doesn't apply to binary attachments.
- Size limit for mails is 40kB, mails bigger than that might need to go through moderation
or get rejected immediatly. Usually if you try to send patches bigger than that, you should
consider splitting them up in smaller parts. Trying to work around the limit by compressing
them or by only sending a URL to the patch makes it even harder for others to handle them.
- We inspect mails with content filters for spam and viruses. Mails might get marked or rejected
by them.
The following rules are not enforced technically but should be followed nevertheless:
- The communication language on all (current) mailing lists is English.
